Massaging post delivery

Baby massage is very essential one week after child birth. If the LO is less than 2.5 kgs, then it is advised to delay massage. There are a few things that you should take care for massaging post delivery:

1. Search for a good Masseuse  Before your delivery it is very important to search for a masseuse     for yourself and the baby. Rates prevailing in Mumbai will range from Rs. 6000 to Rs. 10,000         p.m.

2. Timing for Massaging: Timing that best suits your masseuse, yourself and the baby. You won't     get a good sleep in the night (thats for sure). Therefore for yourself early morning timing won't       be comfortable. For the baby, best timing would be between 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.     

3. Oil to use: This will depend on the weather and the skin type of you and your Baby. (will be         dealt in detail in another article)

4.  Hot Bath: After massage you should have a hot water bath for healing your stitches and for           relaxation of body and muscles. Masseuse also provide heat of the burning coal. 

5.  Heat for the Baby to avoid cold: During rains and winters Masseuse will give a good warmth        to the baby from the smoke that is released by burning 'ajwain' on burnt coal or coconut shell. 

6.  Tie your belly: Ask your Masseuse to tie your belly tightly everyday post bathing for pushing it      in post delivery with a cotton saree. If you have had c-section delivery, it is advised to delay the      same by 15-20 days.
